Biography

Maria Rosaria Bindi, most widely known as Rosy Bindi (Italian pronunciation: [ˈrɔːzi ˈbindi]) (given birth to 12 Feb 1951), can be an Italian politician and the existing President from the Antimafia Commission.

Career

Created in Sinalunga (Tuscany), she graduated in political technology. She was standing up near the attorney Vittorio Bachelet when he was assassinated from the Crimson Brigades in 1980. She kept the positioning of vice-president of Azione Cattolica, typically the most popular Italian Catholic place association, from 1984 to 1989, the entire year she became a member of the Christian Democracy (DC) party.Following the dissolution from the DC party, Bindi joined the Italian People's Party and became a respected number in The Olive Tree, the broad left-to-centre coalition led by Romano Prodi. Following a coalition's triumph in the 1996 general election, she was called Minister of Wellness, a posture she kept also in the next government authorities led by Massimo D'Alema.During her tenure in the Ministry of Health, through her circular "Circolare Bindi del 2 dicembre 1996", electroshock therapy was re-introduced in Italy to take care of psychiatrised patients.
