Robert E. Berry

Biography

Robert E. Berry can be an American retired meals scientist who was simply involved with citrus study with america Division of Agriculture (USDA) Agricultural Study Support (ARS) before getting Editor-In-Chief from the Institute of Meals Technologists’ (IFT) Journal of Meals Technology (JFS) from 1990 to 1998.

Early life and career

A indigenous of Missouri, Berry earned his B.S. level in chemistry and biology from Vanderbilt University or college in Nashville, Tennessee. Then used in the University or college of Missouri in Columbia, Missouri where he gained his M.S. and Ph.D in agricultural biochemistry. After generating his Ph.D., Berry worked well four years with Nestle just before joing the USDA in 1958.

Service with USDA

Berry caused USDA ARS from 1958 until his pension on Sept 1, 1989, including his part as director from the Citrus & Subtropical Items Lab. While there, he gained four patents with USDA. Additionally, he released 140 content articles in scientific publications, books, and publication chapters.

Service with IFT

Berry was elected a fellow of IFT in 1984 for his study both with Nestle and with the USDA ARS in Winter season Haven, Florida. In 1989, he been successful Aaron E. Wasserman mainly because editor of JFS. During Berry's tenure, JFS would switch its framework where articles will be released a first-come, first-served basis to where it might be sectioned by self-discipline (meals chemistry, food executive, food microbiology, nourishment, and sensory evaluation.). This switch happened in 1996. Berry would retire by the end of 1998 and become been successful by Owen R. Fennema.

Life after USDA and IFT

Living in Wintertime Haven, Florida, Berry and his wife released a book of poetry about poems compiled by Berry's now deceased mom.
