Myung-whun Chung (given birth to 22 January 1953, Seoul) is certainly a Southern Korean pianist and conductor. Students of Olivier Messiaen, he’s especially known for his interpretations from the French composer’s functions.


At onetime he and his sisters, violinist Kyung-wha Chung and cellist Myung-wha Chung, performed collectively as the Chung Trio. He was a joint second-prize champion in the 1974 International Tchaikovsky Competition. Chung analyzed conducting in the Mannes University of Music as well as the Juilliard College. He also analyzed piano with Maria Curcio, the final and preferred pupil of Artur Schnabel. Chung was an associate conductor in the LA Philharmonic through the music directorship of Carlo Maria Giulini and creator from the Asia Philharmonic Orchestra. He was also a visitor conductor for the Inbal Orchestra, that was founded in 1985 honoring the Israeli conductor Eliahu Inbal.In European countries, Chung was key conductor from the Rundfunk-Sinfonieorchester Saarbrücken from 1984 to 1990. He was primary guest conductor from the Teatro Comunale Florence, from 1987 to 1992. He provides conducted lots of the prominent Western european and American orchestras and produced his debut on the Metropolitan Opera in NY in 1986 with Simon Boccanegra. By the end from the 1987/88 periods, he received the Premio (it) Abbiati Prize from Italian critics, and the next calendar year the Arturo Toscanini award. From 1989 to 1994, Chung offered as the Music Movie director from the Paris Opera. He opened up the inaugural period at the brand new Opéra Bastille with Berlioz's comprehensive Les Troyens and received extremely praised reviews in the music group. In 1991, the Association of French Theatres and Music Critics called him "Musician of the entire year" and in 1992 he received the Legion of Honour for his contribution towards the Paris Opera. A special documenting musician for Deutsche Grammophon since 1990, a lot of his many recordings have gained international awards and awards.
