Myung-wha Chung (given birth to 19 March 1944) is a Korean cellist.

Myung-wha Chung was created in 1944 in Seoul, South Korea, to a music family. Her young sister may be the violinist Kyung-wha Chung, and her young brother may be the pianist/conductor Myung-whun Chung.She finished her senior high school research in the Seoul Arts College, and made her debut using the Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra, before continuing her research in america.She was a pupil of Leonard Rose in the Juilliard College in NEW YORK between 1961 and 1965. Pursuing that, she after that researched with Gregor Piatigorsky in the College or university of Southern California in LA between 1965-8.She made her U.S. concert debut in SAN FRANCISCO BAY AREA in 1969, and her Western debut at Spoleto, Italy, in 1969. For the reason that same yr, she also got the honor of carrying out at the White colored House.In 1971, she received the Geneva International Music Competition (cello division).Besides her international concert profession like a soloist, using the world's leading conductors and orchestras, she also takes on chamber music partnering her siblings as the Chung Trio.Her cello may be the 1731 "Braga" Stradivarius.


She actually is professor of cello at Mannes University of Music in NY, and head from the cello faculty in the Korea Country wide University or college of Arts, the institution of Music in Seoul.
