Biography

Matthew Kiprotich Birir (given birth to 5 July 1972) is a previous sportsman from Kenya, champion of 3000 m steeplechase in the 1992 Summer time Olympics. Given birth to in Eldama Ravine, Matthew Birir started operating, when he attended in the famous St. Patrick’s SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL in Iten, where many great Kenyan joggers are rosen. In the Barcelona Olympics, the primary favourite was Patrick Sang. In the Olympic last, it was quickly clear, that the medals will Kenya. In the last lap, the 20-year-old Birir outsprinted his old countryman Sang to earn a platinum 0.69 seconds before latter. In the 1993 World Championships Birir was beaten to fourth by Italian Alessandro Lambruschini, who repeated this feat 3 years later in the 1996 Summer time Olympics, so Birir had to stay again with fourth place.
