Chung was raised in Slot Coquitlam, Uk Columbia and became a member of the Vancouver Whitecaps Residency System in Sept 2011, building several appearances using their U-16 and U-18 groups.

Whitecaps FC 2 signed Chung through the 2015 USL period and made his debut in Sept 13, 2015 against Orange State Blues. He'd make yet another alternative appearance that calendar year. In the 2016 period, Chung set up a starting place at right-back and produced the USL Group from the Week after producing a crucial support on the Kyle Greig objective within a 3-2 success against Tulsa Roughnecks. Chung, along with fellow Whitecaps Academy items Matthew Baldisimo and Thomas Gardner had been praised through the club's USL playoff operate in the 2016 USL period In Dec 2016, Whitecaps FC 2 announced that Chung would go back to the membership for the 2017 period.


Chung was element of Canada's U-17 squad which participated on the 2015 CONCACAF U-17 Tournament. He scored within a 3-1 success against Haiti and began every game from the competition at left-back. In 2015, he was called the Canada U17 Man Player of the entire year for his shows during the competition. On 17 March 2016, he was known as up to the Canada U-20 squad within their two video games against Britain and scored an objective to open up the scoring within a 2-1 success. In August 2016, he was known as up to the U-20 group for a set of friendlies against Costa Rica In Feb 2017, Chung was called to Canada's roster for the 2017 CONCACAF U-20 Championship
