Notability Standards

To be included in Biography Wiki, a subject must meet the following criteria:

General Standard

A person is considered notable if they have received significant coverage in reliable, independent sources — meaning coverage that is more than a passing mention and is not based on press releases or self-published material.

Specific Criteria

A person is presumed notable if they meet at least one of the following:

  • Has held elected or appointed public office at a regional or national level
  • Has been the subject of a published book by a mainstream publisher
  • Has been profiled in a major newspaper, magazine, or broadcast outlet
  • Has founded, led, or played a significant role in a well-known organization or company
  • Has made a recognized contribution to their field (science, arts, law, medicine, etc.)
  • Has been involved in a matter of significant public interest as a primary subject

What Does Not Qualify

  • Social media following alone
  • Local business ownership without broader coverage
  • Being related to a notable person
  • Self-promotion or paid coverage

Disputing Inclusion or Exclusion
