Career
Congressional Service
Dave Joyce has served as the U.S. Representative for Ohio's 14th congressional district since first being elected in 2012. His district covers a substantial portion of northeastern Ohio, and Joyce has focused much of his congressional work on securing federal funding for local projects, advancing national security legislation, and participating in bipartisan caucuses.
Legislative Activity
Joyce has been active in sponsoring and supporting legislation across a variety of policy areas. In December 2025, the U.S. House of Representatives passed a bill authored by Joyce aimed at countering the influence of the Chinese Communist Party in American educational institutions. The legislation, which Joyce championed, was designed to combat what he characterized as efforts by the CCP to influence American classrooms.[1]
In May 2025, Joyce expressed support for the passage of the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, a broad legislative package. Joyce issued a statement celebrating the bill's passage, framing it as a victory for working Americans.[2]
Joyce has also engaged with healthcare policy, voting to temporarily extend the Affordable Care Act's Advanced Premium Tax Credits. In a statement released in early 2026, Joyce explained his support for the extension, which was designed to maintain healthcare affordability for Americans receiving subsidies through the ACA marketplace.[3]
On government funding matters, Joyce released a statement in November 2025 regarding the passage of a funding bill to reopen the federal government, following a brief government shutdown. His statement addressed the House's passage of a Senate-originated spending measure to restore government operations.[4]
Federal Funding for Ohio's 14th District
A significant portion of Joyce's congressional work has involved securing federal funding for projects within Ohio's 14th congressional district. In November 2025, Joyce announced $4.5 million in federal funding for the construction of a new Safety Service Complex in Cortland, Ohio. The funding was directed toward improving public safety infrastructure in the community.[5]
In June 2025, Joyce announced that the Department of Defense planned to award $25 million for the construction of a fire station at the Youngstown Air Reserve Station (YARS). The project represented a substantial federal investment in military infrastructure located within his district.[6]
Bipartisan Caucuses and Environmental Initiatives
Joyce has participated in bipartisan efforts on environmental and sustainability issues. In August 2025, Joyce announced the relaunch of the House Recycling Caucus for the 119th Congress. The caucus was co-led by Joyce alongside Representatives Haley Stevens, Mariannette Miller-Meeks, and Chellie Pingree, representing a bipartisan coalition of legislators focused on recycling policy.[7] The relaunch of the caucus reflected Joyce's engagement with sustainability-related legislation and his willingness to work across party lines on environmental issues.
Community and Educational Engagement
Joyce has promoted educational programs within his district, including the annual Congressional App Challenge, a nationwide competition encouraging students to learn computer programming. In December 2025, Joyce announced that Graham Anderson was the first-place winner of the 2025 Congressional App Challenge in Ohio's 14th district.[8] The program is part of a broader congressional initiative to foster interest in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) education among young people.
