Burak Bekdil

Biography

Burak Bekdil is a Turkish columnist who wrote for the daily Hürriyet for 29 years until January 2017, when he was fired “for composing that which was actually occurring in Turkey.” James Cuno, artwork historian and Chief executive from the J. Paul Getty Trust, identifies Bekdil as “a regular critic of Primary Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. in 2002, he received an eighteen-month suspended phrase for “insulting the judiciary”.
