Biography

Alexander Morrison “Alistair” Carmichael Personal computer (given birth to 15 July 1965) is a Liberal Democrat politician as well as the Person in Parliament (MP) for the Scottish chair of Orkney and Shetland because the 2001 general election. He was the just Scottish MP representing the Liberal Democrats inside your home of Commons through the 57th Parliament. Early life

He was created on Islay, and attended Slot Ellen Primary College and Islay SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL. He worked well between 1984–89 like a resort manager, after 24 months of study in the College or university of Glasgow. Political career

Carmichael initial stood for Parliament in Paisley South in 1987, getting defeated with the Labour incumbent Norman Buchan. He was afterwards elected to represent Orkney and Shetland in the 2001 general election, the constituency previously kept by Jim Wallace and Jo Grimond. He was appointed Liberal Democrat North Ireland and Scotland Spokesman by Sir Menzies Campbell in July 2007, but resigned in March 2008 to vote towards a referendum over the Lisbon Treaty. He was reappointed to the positioning by Nick Clegg in Oct 2008. He previously also briefly offered as the Liberal Democrat House Affairs Spokesman, following resignation of Tag Oaten.In June 2009, Carmichael was involved with an effective campaign against the reserve by Max Scratchmann, Chucking everything: How Downsizing to a Windswept Scottish Island Did NOTHING AT ALL to Improve MY ENTIRE LIFE, an irreverent account from the author's experience downshifting from Manchester to Orkney, which Carmichael said was "hurtful and vindictive", and attacked several "clearly identifiable" residents of the hawaiian islands. Personal life

He married Kathryn Jane Eastham in 1987. They possess two sons (blessed in 1997 and 2001) as well as the family have a home in Orkney. He talks both France and German. Carmichael can be an elder in the Cathedral of Scotland.
