Early life and education

Alice Channer was created in Oxford, UK, in 1977. As a kid, her mom handcrafted toys, clothing, bags, drapes and upholstery for the family members. Channer has stated, "I did so not need a father who was simply an architect, I needed a mother who was simply a seamstress." She graduated in 2006 using a BA in ARTWORK from Goldsmiths University, London, UK, and in 2008 with an MA in Sculpture in the Royal University of Artwork, London, UK. She lives and functions in London.

Channer creates sculptures that address the distortion of components and lack of individual systems within a postindustrial environment, often stretching out items to warp their placement within the landscaping. She uses products such as stones, clothing, and hair shampoo containers, which she after that mutates through casting or growing to monumental scales. A lot of her sculptures and functions on paper relate with personal adornment as well as the putting on and screen of clothing. Recently, Channer continues to be making rock and roll sculptures, and going back few years, she's been collecting fragments of cement around her studio room in London, left from construction tasks within the metropolitan environment. The musician will take these human-made stones, all small more than enough to squeeze in her backpack, back again to her studio to make 3-D scans that are extended digitally, up to six foot. The brand new forms are after that carved with a CNC router (computer-controlled slicing machine) into foam to be able to generate molds for different components.

Channer's work offers been proven internationally. Her initial museum show in america, R o c k f a l l, was on the Aspen Artwork Museum from 13 Feb to 31 Might 2015, which in turn traveled to NY within a group present organized by the general public Artwork Fund.
