Alain Calmat (given birth to 31 August 1940) is usually a French previous competitive physique skater, doctor, and politician. He’s the 1964 Olympic metallic medalist, the 1965 Globe champ, the 1962–1964 Western champion, as well as the 1958 & 1962–1965 French nationwide champion.
Calmat attended the Cours Hattemer, an exclusive school. He began skating at age nine. He earned the metallic medal in the French Number Skating Championships in 1954 and would continue to earn twelve medals at nationals before retiring: seven metallic and five yellow metal. He positioned 9th in the 1956 Winter season Olympics and earned the bronze medal in the 1958 Western Championships. In the 1960 Winter season Olympics, he shifted up to 6th place and earned the bronze medal in the 1960 Globe Championships.The next year, Calmat won the silver medal in the 1961 Western european Championships. He became Western champ for three consecutive years from 1962 to 1964. Throughout that period, Calmat was granted one bronze and two metallic medals at Worlds.In the 1964 Winter Olympics, Calmat earned the silver medal and continued to win his second consecutive silver medal at Worlds. He remained in one even more time of year and retired as the 1965 Globe champion.Calmat carried the torch and lit the Olympic fire in the 1968 Winter season Olympics in Grenoble, France.
